Lieder One of Edvard Grieg’s most vivid and brilliant works and his only song cycle, the Haugtussa op. 67 is a story about a young mountain maid that continues to dazzle audiences and performers alike. Its musical qualities puts Grieg and his songwriting among the likes of his German contemporaries and is often compared to Schubert’s Die Schöne Müllerin and Winterreise.
The poems are by Arne Garborg, and in this concert the audience will hear several original texts that Grieg did not include in his songs. The selection is done by legendary actor Ola B. Johannessen, who will also be reciting the poems during the concert, in between the musical performances by soprano Eir Inderhaug and pianist Thormod Rønning Kvam.
